Terms of Service

Last updated: 13 August 2026

1. What PartyDub is

PartyDub is a real-time party game. It provides the software that lets a group of people re-voice a video clip together and compare the results. It is a tool. We do not supply, select, or recommend any video clips.

There is one exception, and it is the only place we hold a clip at all. A user may choose to publish a clip they have brought to the scene library, so that other people can play the same scene. Where that happens we store and serve that clip at the direction of the person who published it. We do not choose what goes in, we do not edit it, and we remove anything on a valid notice — see Copyright. Playing a round without publishing uploads nothing.

2. Your content

You choose what to bring to PartyDub. By using the service you represent and warrant that:

You retain all rights in whatever you bring and whatever you record. For an ordinary round we claim no licence to any of it, because we never receive any of it.

Publishing to the scene library

Publishing is a separate, deliberate act. It is never automatic, and nothing you play is published unless you choose to publish it.

When you publish a clip, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, and make that clip available to other users of PartyDub, together with the line markings you published alongside it. The licence extends to our hosting and content-delivery providers only so far as is necessary to serve the file, and to no other purpose. We do not sell it, license it onward, or use it to promote anything.

The licence lasts only while the clip remains published. Delete it, or ask us to, and it ends — we remove the file, though copies may persist briefly in caches and backups until they expire in the ordinary course.

By publishing you additionally represent that you hold the rights needed to grant that licence. This is a higher bar than playing privately: a clip you may lawfully watch with friends is not necessarily one you may distribute to strangers, and publishing is distribution.

Your recordings, your microphone audio, and the finished dub are never published and are never uploaded to us, whatever else you choose to share.

3. How your content is handled

In an ordinary round, clips and recordings are processed entirely in your browser and on the devices of the people in your room. They are transmitted directly between participants. They are not uploaded to us, not stored by us, and not processed by us.

A clip you publish to the scene library is the exception, and it is the only one: that file is uploaded and stored so other people can play it, and it is served to them from our storage rather than from your device. Everything else in a published round — your recordings, your microphone audio, the finished dub — stays exactly where it always was.

One narrow exception: when a direct connection between two participants cannot be established, the connection may be routed through a third-party relay server. That relay is automatic, transient, and performed at your direction. Nothing passing through it is inspected, logged, or retained.

4. Accounts

You need an account to create a room. You do not need one to join a room. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, and we will terminate accounts of repeat copyright infringers.

5. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PartyDub and its operators against any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you bring to the service or your breach of these terms.

6. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any session will complete. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 50.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be signalled by updating the date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, and the courts of the Republic of the Philippines have exclusive jurisdiction.
