The host picks a short video from their own device. Its lines are found automatically — nothing to mark.

Players are split into teams — one person per character. You only find out which one you got.

Record your lines one at a time, redoing any of them freely. Nobody else can hear you.

Every team's version plays back. Nobody's heard them yet. Vote for the best — not your own.
Where your clip goes
The video never leaves
Your clip is read by your browser and sent straight to the other players. To find the lines worth dubbing, its audio alone is downmixed to mono and analysed — held in memory for one request, never stored.
Nothing is kept
Recordings live in memory during the round. When the session ends they are gone — there is no database row for them to land in.
Nothing is published
There is no feed, no gallery, and no sharing. What happens in the room stays in the room.

What is a dubbing game?

Is PartyDub free to play?
Yes. You can host and play as much as you like, forever. Supporting it monthly adds automatic line-marking, bigger rooms, longer clips and a download with no watermark — but nothing about the game itself is behind that.
What do I need to play?
A browser and a microphone. There is nothing to install, guests do not need an account, and everyone joins with a six-character room code. The host needs an account; joining does not.
Which video clips can I dub?
Whatever you have the right to use — your own recordings, your own footage, anything you hold the rights to or that is openly licensed. PartyDub is a tool with no library of its own: it never supplies material and never hosts what you bring.
Does my video get uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser reads the clip and sends it straight to the other players in the room. Its audio alone is analysed to find the lines worth dubbing, held in memory for one request and never stored. There is no feed, no gallery and nothing published.
Is this a voice acting game?
It is a voice acting game in the way karaoke is a singing competition — nobody here is a professional and the game is better for it. You perform real lines to real timing, and the funniest wrong choice usually wins the vote over the most accurate impression.
Can I dub memes and short clips?
Yes, and short clips are the best material there is: the timing is already tight and a wrong voice on a familiar face is most of the joke. The only rule is that the clip has to be yours to use — your own footage, your own recordings, or anything you hold the rights to.
How many people can play?
Four in a room on the free tier and eight with a supporter hosting. It works with two, but the voting is more fun once there are enough of you to split into teams.
How long does a round take?
About five to ten minutes for a short clip — picking it, recording, then watching every version back. Clips run up to five minutes on the free tier and ten with a supporter hosting.
